Donation to the Sternenbrücke children's hospice

News |

“We at R+C Seetransport live for transportation and want to give the children and young people at the Sternenbrücke children's hospice more life into their days.”

This year, we have decided to make a very special contribution that will remain in the memory of us, our customers and our entire network for a long time to come.

We would like to support terminally ill children and their families at the Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice with a donation and fill their days with more life.

Let yourself be whisked away for a moment and accompany me on a journey to the Sternenbrücke children's hospice in Hamburg...

A children's hospice is not a place we usually think about in our everyday lives. We often associate such a place with grief, negative emotions and death. I had a similar impression until I was able to see for myself on site.

During an intensive conversation with Mrs. Christiane Schüddekopf (board member), I gained a comprehensive insight into the day-to-day work at the hospice and was positively impressed. Lovingly furnished rooms shine in bright and friendly colors. I didn't have the feeling that I was in a place where mourning dominated. Rather, I felt warmth. This place was full of life.

I was particularly touched by the so-called “Garden of Remembrance” (designed in the shape of the infinity symbol). A candle is lit in this garden for every child who has died in the hospice. Once a year, all relatives of the deceased children come together and think of the many positive experiences they have had here in the last few years in the hospice. This garden is not meant to be equated with a cemetery – quite the opposite – it is meant to mark a place that keeps positive memories alive.

My on-site visit convinced me that R+C Seetransport is making a truly meaningful and valuable contribution with its donation to the children's hospice.
